Presented in the 75th anniversary year of the Music Academy of the West’s summer program, the choreographed production imagined a visionary teacher in 1947 who has come to work with students to prepare the Tchaikovsky masterpiece.  Homage was paid both to the influence of Mme. Lotte Lehmann, the founder of the voice program at Music Academy, and also to the original genesis of the opera, written for students at the Moscow Conservatory.
