With the orchestra onstage for the production, Kazaras focused on the character of the Composer as the creative force inspiring the action. Contrasted with the highly choreographed work of the comedic ensemble, the struggle of Ariadne and Bacchus to understand each other only achieves resolution through the triumph of the musical composition.  Present even during the second half of the opera, the Composer became the real heart and soul of the production, with all of the performers eventually acknowledging the Composer’s genius and the supreme triumph of Music.

What could dissolve into silly farce is lifted… by insightful staging.
